digging in 💌 / cauliflower chopped and roasted at 400F, tossed with olive oil, hella curry powder, cinnamon, ginger, garlic, chili flakes, sea salt; steamed jasmine rice with butter, fresh arugula, chickpeas tossed in tomato paste, liquid smoke, olive oil, maple syrup, chili powder and sautéed; + a simple sauce made from labneh, olive oil, lemon juice from a whole lemon, a little garlic, and hella fresh thyme (took a pic of it unmixed because it just looked so pretty)

what indoor plants would you recommend me growing? I’m really trying to get further into gardening and am gonna take a course at my college this year! Your photos inspire me and make me so excited to pursue this :)

i still don’t think I’m an expert at indoor gardening by far just because I don’t really want to buy lots of ornamentals. the really lush tropical ones are…unreasonable on a budget. most my plants are rescues, on their last legs sale plants, or propagated from friends lol

here are some ideas:

money plant: this will survive anything!! and it’s a climbing plant so in a few months she’ll be on her way up

fiddle leaf fig: i got a small one on sale and I’m just interested to see it grow tall..having s tree indoors stresses me out but also it’s intriguing

ferns: I love ferns a lot I can see myself getting more, they’re beautiful, only they’re a bit sensitive so make sure you water when the soil is dry and get a spray bottle to mist. Asparagus fern are pretty easy

spider plant: these ones grow quickly too and always have little offshoots you can propagate

good luck! there’s nothing like your first plant :’)

Romance as means of redemption is the worst kind of Western medicine, but an obsession with personal transformation is an even more American tendency, or at least it is mine. In the last couple years it became a more interesting challenge to be “good” than bad. I started living alone, vacuuming my apartment weekly, saving parmesan rinds for soup, calling to negotiate better rates for utilities. I became a better cook and friend, especially to myself. These specific tasks are not meant to demonstrate adulthood, the inane fantasy of the unrigorous that there is a finite level—based often on what you can afford to own and what that implies—at which no further acquisition of skills or growth is necessary. Rather, it’s to illustrate that I now live my life in a way that suggests I care to be in it. Naturally that desire transfers to other tasks, practices, and ways of relating––what I mean is that it transfers to love.
